Pros
- Innovative
- Spacious sound stage (AKM output)
- Neutral sound signature (AKM output)
Cons
- Bluetooth 4.2
- No 5 GHz Wi-Fi support
Verdict
With the A&futura SE200, Astell&Kern realised the World's first Multi-DAC DAP which is innovative both in electronics and industrial design.

While it is appealing to possess different sound signatures from the two industry-leading DAC manufacturers in a portable device, it would have been phenomenal had the ESS output matched the performance of the AKM.

Nevertheless, the SE200, with its AKM output, delivers a sonic performance second to the A&ultima SP2000 in the brand's DAP line-up, making it a value proposition.

  1. ’m planning to replace my SA700 by the SE200.
What was your experience related with the working temperature?
I normally listen in DSD format, and the SA700 is uncomfortable since it gets really hot.
How was the experience with the SE200?

    • Hi Eleazar, most if not all Digital Audio Players will heat up while playing back audio files in the DSD/DSF formats, some more than others. The SE200 definitely warms up after an hour of use but not to the extent that it is unbearable.

      Hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
