- Dual symmetrical speakers with excellent Dolby Atmos implementation via Dolby AC-4
- Beautiful OLED screen with high screen-to-body ratio
- Extensive Bluetooth codec support
- 24-bit/192kHz output without native support for DSD
- Would have preferred the speaker grills to be on the right side of top and bottom.
With the Mate 20 X, Huawei has created a smartphone that clearly disrupts the industry.

I have for the first time been able to fit a 7-inch digital device into my pockets comfortably, the simplistic and minimalistic design with its slim form factor has won me over. The longer I use the Mate 20 X, the more comfortable I get, something which I would never imagine myself to be when I was first introduced to the device.

Admitably, with the focus being on cameras on the smartphone today, audio playback is hardly a priority for many smartphone manufacturers. It is heartening to see efforts by Huawei on the acoustic audio front, the Mate 20 X scores a full 10 for its “Super-Bass Stereo Speaker System” which puts many portable speakers to shame. More work, however, is required to reduce the noise floor and perhaps include crystal oscillators to achieve the clarity and detail it currently lacks to give the DAPs a run for their money, scoring an 8 in this area, achieving an overall 9 for sound quality.
