Huawei Sound X smart speaker

Huawei has collaborated with French audio technology company Devialet on its latest smart speaker, the Huawei Sound X. The 20cm-high Huawei Sound X features two symmetrical subwoofers, a customised 60W Devialet double woofer utilising the French firm’s ‘Push-Push’ vibration balance acoustic design, which cancel out vibrations for a deeper punch. The smart speaker also sports a concave design featuring 6 evenly distributed 8W mid-range tweeters superimposed by Huawei’s Histen professional sound algorithm to create a 360-degree surround sound that is balanced and comfortable to the ears.

Co-engineering the sound, Devialet also licensed its patented ‘Speaker Active Matching’ technology, which promises to “perfectly recreate the sound as the artist intended, offering high-fidelity sound reproduction with zero distortion”.

Featuring a unique coating process to create a streamlined glazed finish, the touch controls for the Sound X are located at the top of the speaker with a multi-coloured array. Supporting Huawei’s own voice assistant “Xiaoyi”, the speaker responds to voice commands from all directions within five metres radius and automatically recognizes one’s position and directional pickup when waking up through the speaker’s built-in six microphones and a quad-core processor coupled with the company’s advanced anti-interference signal processing technology ensuring that Huawei Sound X can respond sensitively even in the noisiest environment.

The Huawei Sound X sports Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi to support streaming, lossless Hi-Res music can be accessible from Huawei Music and Kugou via the Huawei AI Speaker APP, allowing users access to tens of millions of high-quality tracks from the two platforms.

Huawei Sound X is currently available for pre-order in China at the price of CNY 1,999 (around SGD 388).

    • Dear Mr Poon, I think it is best that you confirm this with the Huawei store before purchasing. I think they are the best to clarify as my knowledge is provided to me by my Huawei contacts in China.
