It has been slightly more than three years since Sennheiser introduced its first True Wireless earbuds, the MOMENTUM True Wireless at IFA 2018. The German audio brand is an established name for True Wireless earbuds with four models under its belt. Debuting later this month, the CX Plus True Wireless completes the brand’s current True Wireless trio line-up of Good, Better, Best.
In addition, as the name implies, the CX Plus True Wireless brings features previously available only on the MOMENTUM line to the CX line. These include Active-Noise Cancellation (ANC), Transparent Hearing, more commonly known as ambient sound, and Smart Pause, which automatically pauses audio when the earbuds are taken out and instantly resumes playback when replaced.
The CX Plus True Wireless retains the ergonomic rounded rectangle design introduced with the CX 400BT and subsequently the CX True Wireless. Sennheiser’s latest True Wireless earbuds also sport the same 7 mm German-engineered TrueResponse transducer found on the CX Wireless, coupled with touch controls and built-in EQ with a Bass Boost preset customisable via the Sennheiser Smart Control app. In addition, each earbud is equipped with dual mics that optimises speech for calls and voice assistant access to ensure crystal clear voice pick-up. The independent earbud use allows the right and left earbuds to be used individually or as a pair.
In terms of Bluetooth, the earbuds offer Bluetooth 5.2 compatibility and support AAC, aptX, aptX Adaptive and SBC Bluetooth codecs, with aptX Adaptive supporting up to 24 bit / 48 kHz audio. Splash-resistance wise, the earbuds maintains the same IPX4 rating consistent with Sennheiser’s other True Wireless offerings.
Sennheiser promises up to 24 hours of total listening time on its latest offering with eight hours on the buds with two additional charges in the case.
The Sennheiser CX Plus True Wireless will be available in matte black and matte white from 28th September and retails at GBP 129.99, SGD 259, USD 179.95.
