Sennheiser has earlier this week announced enhancements to its highly acclaimed MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 via a new firmware update. Available via the brand’s Smart Control App, which is available in Android and iOS, the firmware (R2.10.19) enables multipoint device connectivity; it also provides a high-resolution sound mode for the flagship True Wireless Stereo (TWS) offering.
With the update, one could instantly switch between two paired devices with a simple tap, allowing one to balance between switching over to an incoming video call on the work mobile from a current podcast on a tablet or perhaps an incoming mobile call on the personal mobile with multipoint. The feature also allows switching back to the original audio source device if a call was answered mid-stream, providing effortless switching between the two audio source devices. All these seamless switching are possible through all mutually supported Bluetooth codecs, meaning that as long as the audio source device supports AAC, aptX™, aptX Adaptive™ or SBC, the feature will work over Bluetooth via the supported codec.
Also introduced in the update is a high-resolution sound mode featuring a 96 kHz sampling rate with 24-bit depth via the aptX Adaptive™ codec to provide sound quality comparable to that of a wired headphone; this mode utilises the full 420 kbps bitrate supported by the Bluetooth codec. In RF-challenged environments such as bustling public transportation, the MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 may utilise the codec’s data scaling capabilities to adapt the connection integrity at any given moment seamlessly. Users can enable the high-resolution sound mode via Sennheiser’s Smart Control App, please note that this option is only available on version 4.1.5 or higher of the Smart Control App.
The multipoint and the high-resolution mode are available after updating the MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 to the latest firmware (2.10.19) via the Smart Control App available on App Store or Google Play. The 2.10.19 firmware release also contains numerous optimisations and enhancements for Bluetooth and touch control features.
