Before introducing the Sennheiser HD 560S, I have no recollection of experiencing anything, let alone owning something in my collection that comes close to its performance at this price point.

Sonically, the HD 560S are brilliantly revealing and tonally accurate, so much so that if one has a collection of lossy, low-bitrate content, the headphones are not going to be tolerant about it. Clearly, Sennheiser has delivered what it has set out for the HD 560S, a pair of reference-grade headphones for analytical listening at a price-point accessible to many.

I have always classified audiophile headphones into two categories: reference and Hi-Fi. The former being a reference for comparison and the latter for enjoyment. Reference tuning is, unfortunately, not for everyone. As such, I would encourage an audition of the HD 560S before jumping right in.
