Sennheiser introduces IE 80S BT

The brand's first audiophile Bluetooth In-Ear headphones

Sennheiser has over the weekend introduced its first audiophile Bluetooth In-Ear headphones, the IE 80S BT at Hong Kong High-End Audio Visual Show 2019.

Sennheiser IE 80S BT

According to the company, the IE 80S BT builds on the sonic achievements of the much-loved IE 80S to create a Bluetooth version that supports Hi-Res Audio through the implementation of hi-res Bluetooth codecs, which includes LHDC and aptX HD. These codecs allow the IE 80S BT to process high bit rates found in lossless music formats to achieve a performance that is on par with its wired counterpart.

Sennheiser’s confidence in the audiophile sound quality of the IE 80S BT is backed by the implementation of AKM’s top-of-the-line high-end DAC, which enables the listener to get the most from its 10mm dynamic drivers.

Taking into consideration the need for low latency in gaming and video usage scenarios, the IE 80S BT also supports aptX LL, which ensures perfect synchronization with gaming and video content.

The IE 80S BT has been tuned to deliver the tonally balanced sound characteristic of its high-end headphones. However, the sound can still be tailored according to one’s taste either by using the bass adjustment tool to boost the bass on the earphone directly or via the intuitive 5-band equalizer included with the Sennheiser Smart Control App.

Regular users of voice assistants would be delighted to know that the IE 80S BT has a dedicated voice assistant access button on the three-button remote; it also features high-quality microphones with noise reduction technology that are optimally positioned to ensure crystal clear capture of speech for undisturbed telephone calls and more natural communication with voice assistants.

As a pair of high-end audiophile headphones, Sennheiser’s first audiophile Bluetooth In-Ear headphones exhibit all the meticulous attention from detail, durable, high-quality materials, and aesthetic refinement which you would expect from the German manufacturer. The sleek design also offers exceptional versatility as the Bluetooth neckband component can be detached to allow In-Ear headphones to be used with an optional cable accessory for those occasions when wired listening is desired.

The supplied selection of ear adapters in silicone, lamellar, and Comply™ Memory Foam in a choice of three sizes helps to ensure a perfect fit for excellent passive attenuation of external noise. A secure fit is also assured by the flexible ear hooks, which have a soft-touch finish to enhance the wearing experience. These ergonomic refinements allow one to enjoy the longer listening sessions made possible by the 6-hour battery life in perfect comfort.

The Sennheiser IE 80S BT will be available from mid-august at an SRP of USD 499.95 / GBP 439.
