Featuring a comprehensive frequency response of 6 to 38,000-hertz, the reference-grade studio headphones aims to accurately reproduce audio beyond the audible frequency range via its in-house developed 120-ohm transducers, which features a diaphragm made from a unique polymer blend. Coupled with powerful driver magnets, the HD 400 PRO yields well-defined low-end with clarity and depth, complimenting the nuanced harmonics of the mid to high frequencies with a distortion level of less than 0.05% (measured at 1 kHz, 90 dB SPL).

Design-wise, to ease long sessions, high comfort is of the utmost consideration. The headphones sport a carefully engineered ultra-light frame that positions the earcup in place, gently hugging the ears with minimal pressure, soft velour chosen as the contact material for the earpads. In addition, the open-back design caters for a natural propagation of sound. The transducers sit at a slight angle to recreate the optimum triangular listening position one would be placed in when listening to monitor loudspeakers in a recording studio.

Integrated into the Spatial Headphone Compensation feature in dearVR MIX, the headphones are compatible with Dear Reality’s headphone monitoring plugins, allowing one to create a virtual mix room with carefully designed acoustics using advanced spatial audio technology. dearVR MONITOR integration will be released by the end of 2021.

The headphones come with a 3-meter coiled cable and a 1.8-meter straight cable, both fitted with a 3.5 mm (1/8″) jack plug for portable sources. A 6.3 mm (1/4″) adapter is included, ensuring that the HD 400 PRO connects to one’s mixing desk or audio interface.

The HD 400 PRO is available now and retails at EUR 249, SGD 459.
