Today, Sennheiser introduced the IE 900, seeking to set a new benchmark with its latest audiophile In-Ear offering. Crafted at the German audio brand’s headquarters in Wennebostel, Germany, the new flagship features the brand’s all-new X3R transducer.

A refined version of the 7 mm Extra Wide Band transducers, the X3R transducer is engineered for tighter tolerances and expertly tuned to achieve even greater fidelity and is coupled with the acoustic back volume in the fully automated transducer manufacturing facility at the audio specialist’s headquarters in Germany, resulting in the lowest unit-to-unit variations in miniature, dynamic drivers. Precision cameras are used to examine the transducer components closely during production, and the completed transducers are tested before and after pairing.

The chassis of the IE 900 is milled from a single high-performance aluminium block to create the earphones’ unique triple-chamber absorber (T3CA) system and to retain its pristine appearance for years to come. The three Helmholtz resonator chambers are precision-drilled into the elegant aluminium chassis of the In-Ear and placed between the diaphragm and the acoustic vortex to smoothen masking resonance and refines the X3R technology. For optimal performance, the assembled left, and right-side earphones are paired by hand to work together.

The IE 900 continues to feature the Fidelity Plus MMCX connector that was first introduced on the IE 300 earlier this year. One would also get the standard 3.5 mm single-ended cable, 2.5 mm, and 4.4 mm balanced cables, a serialised premium carrying case, a pair of individually adjustable ear hooks, as well as silicone and memory foam ear tips in three sizes in the box.

Priced at AUD 2,099 / GBP 1,099 / EUR 1,299 / SGD 1,999 / USD 1,299.95, the Sennheiser IE 900 will be launched in phases across different markets, starting from May 2021. For Singapore, where Porta-Fi is based, the IE 900 will be available from July 2021.
