Sony MDR-1AM2 Headphones

Sony announces the MDR-1AM2, successor to the acclaimed MDR-1A headphones that was launched in 2014. The 1AM2 brings a host of new and improved features, building on the success of its predecessor.


MDR-1AM2 Expanded Driver

The Hi-Res certified 1AM2 features a newly developed 40mm HD driver unit with aluminium-coated liquid crystal polymer diaphragms, supporting ultra-high frequency ranges (up to 100kHz). The headphones also adopted the Fibonacci patterned grill from the Signature Z1R, which was inspired by the Fibonacci sequence in nature, it’s equalised opening ensure minimal sound colouration and faithful reproduction of High-Resolution Audio sources.

MDR-1AM2 Package

Like the Z1R, the 1AM2 headphones come with a standard 3.5mm single-ended cable as well as a 4.4mm balanced cable, both 1.2m in length.

Weighing in at just 187g, the 1AM2 is about 17% lighter than its predecessor and features luxurious, comfortable synthetic leather ear pads which are made of low-resilience polyurethane foam. The 1AM2 is available in two colours,  Black and Silver and will be available in selected Asia-Pacific countries from Q2 2018 and is expected to retail for USD 299.95 (SGD 429).
